Mildred Mae RAINEY

19 Sep 1901, Mildred Mae RAINEY was born in Josserand, Trinity County,
Texas, USA. Her parents were Stephen Marion RAINEY and Emily Elizabeth
JOSSERAND.
At the time of the 1910 US Census, "Mildred RAINEY" was living with
her parents and three siblings in Trinity County, Texas.
At the time of the 1920 US Census, "Mildred RAINEY" was living with
her parents and siblings in Polk County, Texas.
Sometime in 1920 Mildred married Lloyd Herbert HUGHES, Sr.
On 12 Jul 1921, Mildred gave birth to Lloyd
Herbert HUGHES, Jr. in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
On 1 Nov 1923, "Mildred Hughes" was working as the Postmaster Polk
County, Texas.
On 2 Aug 1924, Mildred married John Raymond JORDAN, Sr.
On 1 Feb 1925, "Mildred Jordan" quit working as the Postmaster in Polk
County, Texas.
On 24 Jul 1925, Mildred gave birth to James Marion JORDAN in Onalaska,
Polk County, Texas.
In 1927, she gave birth to a son in Oak Hurst, San Jacinto County,
Texas.
In 1929, she gave birth to a son in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas.
At the time of the 1930 US Census, "Mildred
Jordan" was living with her husband and four children in Trinity County,
Texas.
On 21 Dec 1931, Mildred gave birth to Paul Nelson JORDAN in Josserand,
Trinity County, Texas.
In the late 1930s, Mildred and her family lived in Refugio, Refugio County,
Texas. Sometime in 1938 or 1939, the family moved to Corpus Christi, Nueces
County, Texas.
In Sep of 1939, Mildred's first born son, Pete, leaves for college. He
became part of the Texas A&M Class of 1943. Mildred still has a husband and four
children at home while Pete attends a couple of semesters at the Agricultural &
Mechanical College of Texas and at Corpus Christi Junior college before he
enlists in World War II. He marries, becomes a pilot, goes off to war, and dies
in a plane crash.
In Sep 1943, Mildred received a letter from
Brig. Gen. U. G. Ent, describing what a
"wonderful contribution Lieutenant Hughes (Lloyd Herbert (Pete) Hughes) has made
toward winning the war."
In 1943 and 1944, Mildred was active in the Gold Star Mothers club in
Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas.
On 18 Apr 1944, Mildred attended the
ceremony where Pete's Medal of Honor was presented to his widow in San
Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
On 12 Apr 1950, Mildred attended the ceremony where Pete's remains were
reburied in
Plot 53, Section U,
Fort Sam Houston
National Cemetery in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
On 24 Mar 1952, Mildred Mae RAINEY Hughes Jordan died in Corpus
Christi, Nueces County, Texas and is buried in Seaside Memorial Park, Corpus
Christi, Nueces County, Texas.
