Hazel Dean EwingHazel Dean Ewing and Lloyd "Pete" Herbert HughesOn 23 Mar 1923, Hazel Dean EWING was born in Guadalupe County, Texas, USA. Her parents were Jefferson Davis EWING and Etta Lelia CARLILE Ewing.

On 1 April 1930, J. D. EWING worked on a farm in San Patricio County, Texas, USA. This family consisted of J. D, his wife Etta, their three sons Jeff, Lorn and Roy and one daughter Hazel. (source: 1930 U.S. Federal Census Records of San Patricio County, Texas)

Pete probably met Hazel when he was stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA. They were married on 8 Nov 1942 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA where she and her parents were living at the time. Two days later, on 10 Nov 1942, Pete received his commission and his wings in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, USA. They had no children.

Hazel married Robert C. Stubblefield on 23 Feb 1945 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA. They had had two children. She died on 17 Jan 1969 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA and was buried in the San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin, Guadalupe County, Texas, USA. Her obituary was published on 18 Jan 1969.
