HEADQUARTERS
3530th PILOT TRAINING WING (BSC SE)
United States Air Force
Bryan Air Force Base
Bryan, Texas

27 July 1954

Mr. James M. Jordan
1711 Trenton
Corpus Christi, Texas

Dear Mr. Jordan:

Reference is made to our previous correspondence concerning the memorialization program at Bryan Air Force Base. You will find inclosed two copies of General Order Number 12, dated 30 June 1954, which renames several streets on this United State Air Force Installation. Your particular attention is invited to paragraph 6 which redesignates what was formerly Third Street to Hughes Street in honor of your brother, Lieutenant Lloyd. H. Hughes.

It is only through acts of heroism as displayed by Lloyd that our democracy continues to exist. I realize your lose can never be adjusted; however, perhaps it will be of some consolation to you to know that Lloyd is being remembered in this way.

A suitable marker identifying Lloyd is being prepared, and will be placed in a conspicuous location adjacent to the street. At a later date I will forward you pictures of the memorial and a copy of a map of the base.

I would appreciate your advising me of the present mailing address of Mrs. Lloyd H. Hughes, your brother's widow.

Sincerely,

(signature)

ARVID E. OLSON
Colonel, USAF
Commander

Inclosed was General Orders Number 12
