Bond Rally Set at Kelly

Facing a Fifth war loan quota of $1,500,000. the San Antonio Air Service command will hold a huge rally Saturday afternoon at the Blitz hangar in the industrial area at Kelly field.

Col. Thomas H. Chapman, new commander of the S. A. A. S. C. will make his first public appearance as a speaker at the rally, at which Col Gervais J. Garner, chief of the personnel and training division, will be chairman. Other speakers will include Col. Paul S. Blair, base commander, and Lieut. Col. Edward J. Burns, chief of chaplains.

Guests of honor at the rally Saturday, which will open with a band concert from 2:30 to 3 p. m., will include a group of wounded veterans from the Brooke General hospital and Mrs. Hazel Dean Hughes, 156 Halliday avenue, whose husband. Lieut. Lloyd Hughes, recently was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously. She is a civilian employee at Kelly field.

The war bond drive will get under way Monday at Kelly field to coincide with the civilian employee pay day.
