H. HUGHES FIRST AGGIE TO GET AWARD
COLLEGE STATION, March 8 (AP) - As far as can be learned, 2nd Lt. Lloyd H.
Hughes of Corpus Christi and San Antonio, is the first Texas A. and M. college
ex-student to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Lloyd, who lost his life Aug. 1, 1943, when he flew a bomber in the Ploesti,
Rumania oil field raid, attended A. and M. as a freshman for two semesters. The
Ward department announced March 4 (1944) that Hughes had been awarded the Medal of
Honor.
