Two Corpus Christi Men Reported To Be Missing in Action

Two Corpus Christi men are missing in action, relatives here were notified yesterday. (19 Aug 1943) They are Lt. Elbert DuKate, brother of Mrs. N. C. Holmes, 310 Katherine Drive, and Lt. Lloyd H. Hughes, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Jordan, 1113 Sixth Street.

Lieutenant DuKate, former announcer for Radio Station KEYS and also a former employee of Barq's Beverages has been missing in action since the bombing of the Ploesti, Rumania oil fields. Mrs. Holmes was notified. His plane was one of 20 which failed to return from the successful raid when oil wells an other enemy installations were destroyed.

Lt. Lloyd H. Hughes, whose wife lives in San Antonio, has been missing in action since Aug. 1. A pilot on a Liberator B-24, he had been in combat only a short time.

Lieutenant Hughes, who visited his parents here in May, received his commission Nov. 10, 1942, at Lubbock Flying Field.
