2nd Lt. Lloyd H. Hughes
(Lloyd "Pete" Herbert Hughes, Jr. - 12 Jul 1921 - 1 Aug 1943)
Second Lieutenant
Lloyd "Pete" Herbert Hughes, Jr. was my uncle. He was a B-24 pilot in World War
II who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor
for his actions in "a long and hazardous minimum-altitude attack against the Axis
oil refineries of Ploesti, Rumania." Pete was just a little over 22 years old when
he died.
This gathering of photographs, letters, data and Web links is my memorial to
Pete, an uncle I never knew, but so many people have honored.
