Mrs. Moody is Honored by S. A.

Miss Myla Baker of San Antonio and Mrs. Julian Campbell Clopton of Austin entertained with a brilliant afternoon tea Thursday in the attractive Stephen F. Austin hotel in the capital city, complimenting Mrs. Dan Moody, wife of Governor-elect Dan Moody.

The entire mezzanine floor of the hotel was decorated in a charmingly attractive color scheme of pink and green. The walls of the spacious lounge and ball room were outlined in tall palms and ferns.

At given spaces about the rooms were floor lamps shaded in rose, while tall green wicker baskets held clusters of Russell roses.

Miss Baker, Mrs. Clopton, Mrs. Moody, the honoree, and Miss Mary Moody, stood in the front part of the lounge where they greeted their guests.

Here a background was formed by palms flanked by the floor baskets filled with roses.

Tables were laid in the center of the mezzanine floor and at the far corner of the ball room.

Tables were laid in imported Italian filet lace, and embroidery, while in center of the tables were green Venetian glass bowls filled with clusters of Russell roses. At opposite ends were silver candelabra holding green wax tapers.

The far end of the ball room had been transformed into a garden scene. Palms, ferns were banked to form a background for a fountain, the spray playing over a central light of brilliant rose surrounded by smaller bulbs of green.

The grand piano was draped in a black and gold Spanish shawl, while divans and chairs were also dropped (sic) in rose and white embroidered shawls. In here a stringed orchestra gave a program of classical numbers.

Many San Antonians, as well as Austin women, assisted in naming the affair a success.

Pouring coffee on the mezzanine floor were Mesdames Paul B. Malone, B. L. Naylor, Atlee B. Ayres and F. F. Stauffer.

Among those assisting and presiding in the ballroom were: Mesdames T. N. Goodson, Hilmer Starcke of Seguin, Earl Baker, M. L. Childers and E. R. Mayfield of Austin and Miss Francis Mayfield of Austin, and others.

Assisting in receiving the guests on the mezzanine floor were: Mesdames L. J. Hart, Frank G. Huntress of San Antonio, Hugh Nugent Fitzgerald, Will Gerhardt, Thomas Butler and R. Bewkey.

The punch bowl on the mezzanine floor overlooking the lobby ws presided over by Miss Katherine Huntress and Mesdames Julian Westheimer, E. C. Simmang and Horace Gilbert.

Miss Baker was in a lovely gown of black satin heavily studded in coral paillets. Mrs. Clopton was in a gown of draped black satin.

Mrs. Moody was becomingly gowned in a robe of black sequins, gold girdle, gold rose on the left shoulder, gold hose and slippers, and carried Ophelia buds.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was in a robe of white georgette heavily beaded with seed pearls. Mrs. Naylor was in white chiffon and brilliants. Mrs. Hart wore black and gold lace and gold slippers.

Mrs. Malone was in black lace. Mrs. Huntress was in rose-colored chiffon, beaded in crystal. Mrs. Childers was in crimson, heavily beaded in jet. Mrs. Starcke wore a robe of lavender rose and green bugle beads. Miss Katherine Huntress wore black velvet made with long skirt and trimmed in deep rose and gold velvet bow.

The table in the banquet room was laid for twenty-six, having for its decoration spring flowers.

In the Realm of Society - Miss Myla Baker of Mineral Wells was hostess at a pretty luncheon in the Latin quarter of the Menger hotel Thursday, complimenting her guest, Mrs. J. N. Minsey, of Mineral Wells, who is her guest at the Gunter hotel.

The table was laid in lavender and the setting was of ruby crystal, while the floral decoration was carried out in orchid and pink asters.

The terrace dining room of the Gunter Hotel presented a brilliant scene Tuesday afternoon when the Woman's club held it annual flower show cabaret, under the chairmanship of Mrs. William C. King and Mrs. Marcus H. Clark.

The tables, at which were seated the 300 guests and members of the club, were gay in their decoration of spring flowers.

Pink roses, amaryllis, lilies, lark spur, snapdragons, bridal wreath and Easter lilies formed clusters and mounds for the adornment of the tables. ....

The reception committee included Mesdames ... and Miss Myla Baker.
