William H. JORDAN

What do you do with information that seemed like a match at the time, but then you change your mind? I post it for someone else to find.

According to the Widow's Application for Confederate Pension signed by my 2nd great grandmother, Elizabeth PATE Jordan, she married my 2nd great grandfather, William Henry JORDAN on 18 Dec 1864 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, USA

The documents below are for a William H. JORDAN in the Confederate Army in the Civil War. He was a prisoner of war at the time that my 2nd great grandparents were married. This William H. JORDAN was captured 6 May 1864 and released 14 Jun 1865. So this William H. JORDAN is unlikely to be my 2nd great grandfather, William Henry JORDAN.

Other clues: My 2nd great grandfather was in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana at the time of the 1860 Census. Would he go back east to Lee County, Alabama to enlist in the Civil War? A distance of nearly 500 miles? A possibility? Yes. Probable? No. Not with him being in prison at the time he was supposedly married.

Please double check my transcriptions before you copy it. Let me know if I made any errors.
